Loving the Baby

The kids have shown increasing love for the little girl growing in my tummy recently.
They love to put their hands on my belly and wait for a "high-five" and they love to give her hugs!
They also love to talk to her - they press their faces right up to my belly and tell her all sorts of things!
This morning, they both decided in their own way to sing a song to the baby.
Aaron chose to sing along to a song in one of his favorite moves, Planes: Fire & Rescue
It's hard to understand him at parts, but it's still super adorable!
Audrey, chose to dress up, get on a stage, and use a microphone.
Audrey loves to come up to me and say, "Baby?"
I'll kneel down so she can gently rub my belly and talk to the baby.
Aaron always asks how the baby is doing and when she's wiggling a ton (which is pretty much all the time) he gets excited and says, "I think she's coming out now!!!"
Sorry bud, we've got a few more weeks to go. But you'll meet her soon!

... so that happened ...

Some of you have noticed that I've been pretty MIA for the past week...
I promise I have a good reason.
After the aviation museum on Saturday, I took a turn downhill.
Sunday was awful - I could feel my cold had turned into a sinus infection, and it had made its way into my ears - a sign that has never been good in the past.
The pain was so bad Sunday night that I literally didn't sleep ...
In the morning, I called my friend Kristyn who raced right over to get the kids.
I was dizzy and light headed and felt awful, so Eric worked from home.
He drove me to the doctor's office where, during my exam, my ear drum ruptured.
Luckily it didn't burst like when I was in high school, but a rupture is still pretty bad.
I got an IV for fluids *oops* and Eric picked up the prescriptions.
As you can see - red cheeks and mega popped bloodvessels in my face (from coughing and throwing up) that will only get worse.
We picked up the kids on the way home and I tried my best to get some sleep... That evening, my sister-in-law, Amanda, came to get the kids. She kept them over night which was a blessing because my body had decided it didn't react well to severe prolonged coughing (mixed with either drinking tons of fluids) and I violently lost my dinner in the shower - not for the last time, sadly.
Amanda kept the kids Tuesday and Eric once again worked from home - what a blessing! I was finally able to get some legit sleep on Tuesday which was desperately needed but I was still quite dizzy. Thank you to Kristyn for bringing us dinner! Wednesday, Eric went back to work but Amanda held onto the kids - again a blessing because I was still throwing up and dizzy. Definitely not capable of handling my kids! Thursday, my friend, Memory, took the kids in the morning and brought them back for nap/quiet time. Eric got home early so I only had to manage to take care of them for about 2 hours, really which was so nice. I'd developed a severe pain in my left side that would spread any time I coughed, sneezed, moved, picked anything up, etc. We are currently assuming it's tired muscles from how long I'd been sick (at that point, it had been a week and a half of the cough stuff + throwing up)
I had the kids all day Friday and I think they could tell that I was in need of extra help. They pitched in and took care of me. They'd bring me otterpops and rest in bed with me! What great kids. I took it pretty easy over the weekend (the kids mostly played outside in the sunshine!) and today the kids and I are just chilling. My visiting teacher, Pricilla is bringing over dinner tonight so I can continue to try to rest. I'm definitely not "better" but I'm better than I was last week! The cough, lack of hearing, headache, exhaustion, and belly pain are lingering but I'm hopeful that they'll clear up soon.
How lucky I am to have a wonderful, caring husband to take care of me, pleasant kids, and fabulous help from my friends and family!
I seriously think it is rude when my body decide that on top of being pregnant, they have to get sick, but ya know... life is what it is I guess. I'm 32 weeks tomorrow so we're almost done!
I'm so ready to meet this little girl!!!

We Aim for Efficiency ...

The water would over power her face each time ... she'd back away giggling and then head in again!

Aviation Museum!

At the advice of one of Eric's co-workers, I called the library this morning and reserved the Cultural Pass for the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum! (I'm kind of sort of feeling better in a way that I can be around people, but not up close next to people...) We were there for 3 hours and only got to the Aviation part of the museum - we'll definitely have to go again and see the other building!

We started out outside since there was a break in the rain. The kids were so excited! Though, Audrey at some points seemed more interested in the flowers than the planes...

It started to rain before long so we headed in to see all the planes inside. The kids raced from one plane to the next and then back again. They LOVED it!

They had a super awesome play area with things for the kids to ride and simulations to try!

Aaron was so thrilled to drive us all in the space shuttle! He had us all climb in back and hollered out what we were supposed to be seeing as we "drove around."
They had various airplane seats around for us to use as we walked the museum.
The kids thought the buttons on the side were WAY more interesting than looking at the camera.

At the end, we let the kids each pick out an airplane souvenir and we put a penny through a press to make an airplane mark!
I can already feel that my body is going to reject all the walking I did today, but boy did we have fun!
And I got to rest when we got home! Eric and the kids went into our new "library" to do puzzles!
Aaron kept talking on the way home about how he can't wait to go back to the Airplane Museum :)
Don't worry, we definitely will go back!

Story Time

This morning, I woke up feeling worse than I have all week...
I felt nauseous and sick, but I felt loved.
Eric made me breakfast and brought it to me in bed for the third time this week (with extras for the kids) and then, when I heard the kids were awake, I went in to find this...
Aaron was reading to his sister to keep her happy until I was able to come get her out of the crib.
I love it! He's even showing her the pictures as he tells her the story!

A big thank you to my little family for taking care of each other (and me!) when I'm not able to!

Loving This Week

This has been a great week.
I've been sick, which hasn't been so great, but it's been filled with kids getting along, breakfast in bed twice and flowers (Eric was gone Friday night and he wanted me to know he was thinking of me)! Seriously, Eric is the best!

Aaron has said some pretty funny things. When we were in the car Aaron wanted some water. I didn't have any and told him he could have some when we got home. He asked if he could have all the water he wanted. Of course, I replied. Later, on our way home, he asked if we were headed to a piranha's house. What? Uh, no... "Aw nuts!" he said. "Remember, when we get home, you can have all the water you want!" "Oh yeah!" then he said very quietly, "and all the chocolate too!" -_-

We were racing the other day and Aaron informed me that because he won, I was the loser. I told him that it wasn't very nice to call me a loser and just because I didn't win doesn't make me one... his response was, "It's ok mama, everyone's a loser!"

Yesterday, Aaron came to me wanting a snack. He suggested a granola bar and I countered with the option of an orange. He then said, "Let me think *taps chin* Mama! I've got a plan! How about you go downstairs and get an orange and bring it up here to me!" ... nice try kid.

Last night, Eric was teasing Audrey with a toy she wanted - keeping it out of her reach and tickling her. They were both giggling, but Aaron felt the need to swoop in and save her. He snatched the toy, handed it to Audrey, and exclaimed, "once again, I am the winner!"

We got a new scale and Aaron's a little bit obsessed with it. He climbs on it every morning to see how big he's gotten. He climbed on this morning and I pointed out that he's 34 lbs, same as always. His response was, "Mama, how about you climb on with me! Then it'll get bigger!"

Given that I've been sick, I've been lounging a lot during nap and quiet time (it's a headache, ear ache, sore throat, nose issues kind of thing. blech!). I was watching  Friends the other day and there was mention of a tuna and pickle sandwich ... well, that was all I needed! I got out of bed and went down to make a tuna, mayo, pickle, celery, tomato and red pepper flakes concoction to eat on saltines. I'm apparently very susceptible...

I haven't had much energy while feeling sick, so I just sat back and watched my kids play ...
why not take a few (or a ton!) of pictures while I'm at it?!?
Aaron and Daddy built an epic train track that Aaron shared with Audrey!

GP and Grammy sent us Jelly Beans!
Audrey has become a crazy climber and can get to anything she wants these days ...
No table or puzzle will stand in her way - sorry Aaron ...
We went to Gramma and Grampa's house to play with cousins!

The kids were filthy afterwards - good thing they love bath time!
I love how well these kids get along!

Eric's parents gave us a thunder maker from India! Listen to this epic storm!
Audrey surprised me the other day by counting to 3 while sitting on the floor in front of me. I pulled out the camera and prompted her with the number one while holding up my fingers. I love how she taps her face as she's thinking, just like Aaron does!
The kids have been loving the playroom recently
(we rearranged it and added a large arm chair for me to sit in while they play).

Today, Audrey successfully climbed the bunkbed all by herself ... kill me now ...
After watching her up on the top bunk for a little while, I felt a heart attack coming on - she wouldn't just sit! She had to get up and move around, I kept thinking she was going to fall! So, finally, I convinced the kids that it was time for lunch - it was a bit early, but it worked!
On the way down, I proposed sandwiches for lunch and Aaron declared he also needed carrots and oranges and apples! I'm so glad my kids make it easy to eat healthy - that's one less heart attack I need to worry about!

Time to go lie down and take a nap! Audrey is sleeping and Aaron is playing in quiet time :)
